    Meet The Shelter

    Protect 4 Paws was founded in 1963 by Lucille Taylor, a woman who devoted her life to caring for and protecting unhoused pets in Campbell County, Kentucky. Her legacy lives on through a 100% donation-funded, no-kill shelter serving Northern Kentucky and surrounding areas.

    With the capacity to house up to 8 dogs and 35 cats at a time, the team at Protect 4 Paws provides every animal in their care with love, dedicated health services, and the medical attention they need — giving each one the best possible chance at finding their forever home.

    Every animal that comes through their doors is treated with compassion and dignity, because at Protect 4 Paws, no life is ever too small to save.

    Featured Pet 1

    Trouble
    Canine, Min Pin, 11 years old

    Trouble is a sweet senior gentleman who lost most of his vision but hasn't lost his spirit. He ended up at the shelter after his previous owner became too ill to care for him, and even though he'd always been an only pet, he's adjusted well to life around other cats and dogs.

    He loves blanket burrows, sunbathing, car rides, and going for walks in his harness. He has some senior needs — dental care, a slow feeder for mealtime, and general monitoring — but his recent bloodwork looked great. He's calm, affectionate, and would do best in a quiet, loving home for his golden years.

    Little Girl
    Feline, Domestic Short Hair, ~14 years

    Little Girl has been at the shelter for over two years after being rescued off the streets in rough shape. She's since become a shelter favorite, known for her spunky personality and love of attention — head scratches, catnip, canned food, and a basket to call her own are her favorite things. She's managing hyperthyroidism and a heart murmur with daily medication, and does best as the only pet in a calm household.

    (A generous donor has pledged $1,000 toward her care to help whoever adopts or fosters her.)

    Protect 4 Paws doesn't currently have a formal foster program — right now, their small team focuses on caring for the animals already in their shelter.
